Design Wall Monday

This is my very first design wall Monday! I'm just proud of myself for actually getting it done! lol

I've been working on these Pineapple blossom blocks for a while.

Sorry the picture isn't better, but you get the idea.

I didn't get to sew very much this weekend. DH and I have a new passion - bike riding! We used to ride alot when our kids were smaller and we had all 5 of them at home. We haven't even owned bikes for at least 10 years. So we're having to start out slowly to get back into it. Last weekend we rode 4 miles. Then we did some neighborhood riding around during the week. Then this past Saturday we rode for 6 miles. I'm hoping that this coming weekend we can do 10. My oldest and dearest friend, Dawn Marie, got us back into this. She does the 30 and 50 mile rides. I want to be just like her when I grow up! lol

After we went riding we took our two kids that are still at home to the coast. We've been in Florida for going on 3 months and this is the first we've made it! We had a wonderful time, then went to see Dawn Marie and her husband. It's amazing to us that we've been friends for 20 years growing up in Ohio, but we both end up in Florida just an hour away from each other!

Here are some pictures we took at the coast.

My three stooges.

DH building a sand castle!

A sea sponge that washed up on shore. We didn't know if it was alive or not so we threw it back in.

Tif and Jon playing in the water.

Sunset.

Any more questions about why we moved to Florida?lol

Back to work for me now. Head on over to Judy L's blog to see what everyone else is doing.

Happy Quilting!

Hello blogland!

Wow, time flies when you're having fun! I just realized how long it's been since my last post! I really want to post more often, at least once a week but I haven't been doing much sewing lately. DH and I got a couple of bikes and we've been doing quite a bit of riding so that has taken up some of my time. Other than that it's been difficult since we moved to a smaller home. We are currently in a two bedroom apartment and that doesn't leave a lot of room for my stash. So, we've rearranged some things to hopefully give me some more room to work. In the meantime I've been working on a new afghan for the back of my couch so that's what I do while watching TV in the evenings. I have to get to a point where I'm sewing bindings in the evenings! I actually like hand sewing the bindings on - I find it very soothing.

Well, it's getting late and we're going for a ride in the morning so it's time to sign off. Hopefully my next post will actually have some photos of quilts! It seems like I have hundreds of plans/ideas for quilts and things I'd like to make - now it's just a matter of DOING it.

Hugs and happy quilting!

Well, after fighting with it ALL day DH and I, ok more DH, finally figured out why the camera and computer have not been talking and I got the pictures off the camera! Which made me really happy since there were pictures on there from the last time my sailor was home, which was 4th of July. Yes it's been that long since the camera and computer where talking. Well, with moving and all part of it was not locating the camera!

Here is the photo I took of what JulieK sent.

I can't wait to get started on some of these string quilts.

And here's my sailor:

That was at the airport as we had to say goodbye.

Ok, back to the quilting room! Before I can actually get anything done I have to get it organized. I want to have something to show for Judy L.'s Design wall Monday so I have to get busy.

Happy Quilting!

Whew!

Well I made it through another year end close! When you work in accounting the first week of the new year is such fun closing out the books from the previous year.

I have been spending all my 'free' time signing up for drawings and fun stuff. I actually won one! I received a lovely box of strings and also two fat quaters from JulieK! I took a picture of it with my found camera with the new batteries but now my camera and computer aren't talking right to each other so I can't get to the pictures! So, thank you Julie; the box was received and is much appreciated.

I've also signed up to make string quilts. The challenge is to see how many we can make in a year. I've made a couple of string quilts and I really like them so this should be fun.

I've also signed up to do a block lotto.

I'm not real good at adding links and buttons to my blog. If any one has any easy instructions I would love it! My children claim that I'm technologically challenged but I still say it's just a lack of experience! lol

Happy quilting!
